“Are you up for checking another thing off the bucket list?” “Huh?” I laughed, feeling lighter than air, for some reason. “I’ve always wanted to be in two places at once, like in A Walk to Remember.” He followed my finger pointing toward the Welcome to Utah sign and smiled. “Well, you’re in luck. I’ve always wanted to kiss you in two places at once.”
He closed the gap between us, bringing his hand softly to my chin, pulling my gaze up to his. “I understand what you’re saying. I do. And I’m sorry if it made you uncomfortable, but I’m not sorry I did it.” His eyes studied my lips for a moment, causing my insides to ache, before he lifted them to mine once more. “One day, when all the stars align for you, maybe you’ll date someone. Maybe you’ll get married. And I sure as hell hope that guy helps you shoulder a few of your burdens. Not because he doesn’t think you’re capable. Not because he wants to control you. But because he loves you.” He

“I wouldn’t have given him the bill if I didn’t completely adore what he was trying to do. Sometimes you need to let people help you.” “He’s not…family, though. He’s…my boss.” She shot me a look. “No. Stop lying to yourself. First of all, who in your family is going to help you? And second, that guy is your best friend.” When I raised my eyebrows at her, she smiled. “After me, of course. He’s crazy about you, and you’re crazy about him. So just shut up and let him love you.”
somehow it wasn’t anger that surged through my veins. It was tingles. Awareness. It was a feeling of being grateful for a person who saw the best in me and wanted the best for me. A man who provided an opportunity to make my dreams begin.
When you love someone you feed them. If you’re madly in love you show them how to feed themselves and offer encouragement.
“It’s hard to feel like I deserve someone so good, so I’m going to tell you some of my flaws to make sure you know what you’re getting into before this goes any further.” He stopped, scrunching his nose into an adorable face. “Is it the Dr. Pepper thing? I already know that. We can work through it.”
“I fell in love with you the night we met. I tried to forget you, but it was impossible. And then, when I saw you again, I knew my life’s mission would be your happiness. But in all actuality, you’ve made me the happiest I’ve ever been. I’m just trying to keep up.” A warm hand began brushing at the tears spilling down my face. “Will you marry me?”
