I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This [But I'm Going to Anyway]

a platonic friendship doesn’t even have to face the normal obstacles that would inspire a breakup. We didn’t have to mesh our finances together, navigate sex, or deal with any weird in-laws. When a friendship breaks up, there’s nothing to blame, it’s just because someone in the purest form is deciding: no thank you, not you.

But I do have a wish for myself. I hope that someday, if I reread this, I will have forgotten some of the painful details entirely because I stopped holding them so close. I hope one day I can look back and laugh, wondering why it was ever so hard to share to begin with.
