His eyes roam over my face and down my body, his lip curling in disgust. “You’re a nobody. No one’s daughter, no one’s god daughter, no one’s charge. Until yesterday you weren’t even registered. You have no unusual powers or abilities that make you worthy of protection. Nobody cares about you, nobody is going to give a damn if you go missing. You run away – you get yourself expelled – it’ll be a matter of hours, not days, before Marcus Lowsky lays his hands on you. And then you’ll be dead and no longer a problem for the authorities or this school.”
He chuckles, leaning over to the table by his bed and flicking ash from his joint into a tray. “Don’t worry little piggy, I’m not interested in anything like that from you. I mean look at you.” He chuckles. “There’s no meat to you.” He leans forward. “You need fattening up, little piggy, before anyone will sink their teeth into you.”
I down the rest of my whisky and slam the empty glass onto the bar top, then I turn and march back to my group. Finding the first girl I bump into, I grab her wrist and lead her onto the dance floor. She’s so fucking excited she doesn’t know what to do with herself, her hands all over me as she giggles uncontrollably. I’m guessing I haven’t slept with this one before. I don’t even remember her name. I grab her ass, and pull her tight against my body, letting her grind up against my cock while I try not to think about that flash of black panties. About Andrew’s hands. About why the hell I’m

I stare at her, that tug straining in my stomach, my blood so hot it’s scorching. I grip the edge of the door. “Get out before I kiss you,” I snarl through my teeth. She stops laughing and looks at me. Her cheeks pinken. The air seems to crackle with electricity and I can hear her breath hitch. I grip the doorframe so hard my knuckles bleach. “Maybe I want you to kiss me,” she whispers in her head and more images flood her mind, images of me bending down to press my mouth to hers, images of me lifting her up and pressing her against the door, images of me laying her out across my desk. I stand

“You going to kiss me back, sweetheart?” he murmurs against my mouth and my eyes flutter open. I’ve never kissed anyone before. And I guess it’s another thing I need to add to my growing list of things I need to learn. “Kiss me back,” he murmurs again, this time with more of a growl, half way between a plea and a command.
I stare down at Professor York’s shoes. Sensible black heels. She doesn’t need them. She must already be verging on six feet without them. I don’t say anything, waiting for the forthcoming punishment, but I sense Stone staring at me, can feel that familiar tug in his direction. Is that what it’s like to have a crush? To want someone even when you shouldn’t. Even when you know they are totally unsuitable and most probably out of bounds. Even when you hate their guts. It’s only as that last thought flits through my mind that I remember the goddamn professor can read them. Crap.
“I’m … I’m sorry,” he stutters. “Rhi … I’m … sorry.” I clasp my head in my hands, my brain still thumping hard against my skull. “Fuck you,” I hiss, tears racing down my cheeks. “Fuck you!” I hear Pip grunting angrily, snapping his jaw and when finally I can open my eyes, the professor is gone.
He sweeps his thumb along the line of my jaw and peers deep into my eyes. His are a mixture of colors, one eye more green, the other more brown. I stare up into his and I feel like I’m falling. That hook in my stomach is the only thing tethering me to the ground.
