“Don’t go with that ten percent, young nigga. A persistent man is a winning man. You say you sure she don’t want no divorce, put that fucking pressure on her. What you don’t do is allow her to believe you agree with her or don’t give a fuck, because she will marry that other nigga.
Strong women like ya mama and Couture need more than what their heart is telling them. They could love the fuck out of you, but if the math ain’t right up here,” he pointed to his temple, eyeing me, “they not gon’ go for it.”
“What the fuck are you doing, Khari?” She giggled softly. “Did you seriously pull me out of my home this late to have small talk?” “Yeah. I missed you. We ain’t talked since I took you out to eat then you took me out to eat.” I pinched her chin, making her swat my hand and laugh.
“That’s what you want? To marry a nigga who got you begging another nigga for dick?” I laughed. “I told you, princess, if I hit the pussy, I’m taking it home. I’m stingy as fuck.”
I didn’t want a homeboy. I wanted a man. I wanted someone who made me feel giddy at the thought of them. I wanted someone who made me fantasize and reminisce about our sex the night before. I wanted that deep ass connection, and all of that was Khari.
“Aight. I’ll be to you in a little bit.” “I can drive.” “I know, but I don’t want you to. It’s late as fuck. I can’t have you out here driving and shit. Yo’ husband gon’ pick you up.”
I’m gon’ chill, but just know I’m here for you, and I’ll lose all this shit before I let another nigga make you feel like you gotta bend, break, or fold to please them.”
“Where were you then, Khari?” “I was home. But at the end of the day, this shit we doing right here ain’t for real, so whether I was laid up with Marley or anybody else, that ain’t none of yo’ fucking business, Kéa. Same way you can fuck on who you want to, and I promise I won’t trip.” “Excuse me? So I can fuck another nigga?” “Yeah. In fact, I encourage the shit. Maybe that nigga can help me the fuck out, occupy yo’ time so I won’t have to deal with yo’ stupid ass so much.”
“My love for you will never be some spontaneous shit. That’s gon’ be the one fucking predictable thing about me. That shit is fixed, unwavering, won’t ever change.”
The sight and question prompted a smile. I loved how he was always so ready to make things right for me, even something as small as breakfast.
“Cool. We need somebody black, no exceptions.”
feeling Khari squeeze my hand, telepathically letting me know everything would be fine, relaxed me. He could always do that. It was a trait I could find in no other man and was ultimately priceless.
