Running my nose up the side of her neck, I growl against her skin. “Never run from a bear.” The gasp that leaves her mouth is so fucking sexy, it makes me feral. “You like being chased before you get fucked, Ral?” “I love it,” she pants. Beautiful. “Do you know what bears do when they capture their prey?” She grips onto my arms, trying to push off me, but her fingers refuse to let go. She doesn’t know what she wants. “What do they do?” Her heart is pounding. Fuck, this is hot. “They take them back to their den.”
“Let go, love. I got you.” His voice is so deep, and he says it so tenderly.
I want her more than I’ve wanted anything. I want my name on her back. On her driver’s license. On her lips.
Barrett: Yeah I did. My name is the only one I want to see on your back. Me: Ohhhh, it’s a possessive thing. Barrett: Hell yeah it is.
“They say parenting is only hard for good parents.”
“Well, at least you’re keeping it light.” He lifts his shoulders. “You asked. Like I said, I’ll always be honest with you.”
“What do you really want to say?” I ask. She swallows. “Honestly?” “Of course.” “I’m thinking I’m out with a really attractive man I’m starting to like and I don’t want to spend it talking about our history and the mistakes we made. The guilt is coming off you in waves—our situation was fucked because of a force outside our control. I don’t blame you anymore, so let that shit go.” She takes another bite. “And—” More chewing. “This is our date night. You wanted to take me out and I’m here. So show me a good fucking time, Barrett Conway.”
I see it in the way he holds him… You never fall faster in love than with your own child.
A lop-sided smile forms on his lips and his eyes sparkle. “Did I say I was done?”
