I offer my beer to her. “I should have asked if you wanted a drink. Want a sip? It’s non-alcoholic.” She curls her hand over mine and tilts the neck of the bottle into her mouth. I shouldn’t be staring, but I can’t help it, especially when she looks up at me through her lashes as she steps back.
James kisses me like he’s hungry; I can taste the beer on his lips and feel his hands holding me in place like a brand. Even though this is for show, he’s obviously into it. Then he kisses down my throat, and I freeze. Kissing is one thing. But that’s not just kissing. If he goes any farther, I’m going to soak my panties in this parking lot.
There’s a light pink flush on his cheeks. “And I’m hoping to add new routines, anyway.” My heart does a somersault; I can’t help smiling. “Oh yeah?” “Waking up next to my girl can’t hurt.” My girl. The words fill the air, the car. Part of me wants to ask about it, but I don’t want to ruin the magic, not now. It’s good enough to know I’m his girl.
I kiss her cheek quickly. “See you. Get my good side.” “That’s his butt,” Fletch says with a wink. “Make sure you get plenty of butt shots.” “He does have a nice butt,” she says, which of course makes half the squad hoot and holler. “You’re gonna be in trouble later!” I call as I grab a football from one of the assistants and jog back onto the slushy field. “What are you going to do, throw a snowball at me?” she calls back. Not a bad idea. “With my aim, princess? Don’t give me ideas you’re not prepared to handle.”
