Loud: Accept Nothing Less Than the Life You Deserve

Every week, no matter how busy she was, we’d sit down to have what we call a “Family Fun Night,” where we’d play board games and make sure to get in real quality time together as a family. She instilled in me the importance of cultivating that togetherness through special moments and celebration. Just like a flower grows through intentional care and attention, so does a family.

the only request she ever has, year after year, is that our entire immediate family takes a picture with Santa Claus at the mall.

But maybe the “cool girls” got one thing right after all: I wouldn’t be like the other girls—I was going to be much, much worse.
