“You trusted Chambers with your journal?” I stared at the wrapped book in my hands. The white feather affected me more than I was willing to let on. As if Chambers understood every inch of my trepidation and was honouring the fact. “Would you not have?” “I would trust him completely. Only you and he can’t seem to stand one another.” I looked up at Pierce. “Well, he swore on the man who had saved his life, and I thought it enough to trust in his discretion.” Pierce’s reaction was slight, but still a reaction. He nodded. His eyes were no longer looking at me, rather a memory of something else.
