urban areas, men tend to feel less pressure to marry; there are fewer men than women; and there are more gay men than straight men. As a result, there is a percentage of women who do not walk down the proverbial aisle. This increases the sense of competition between women and permits the concept of the Other Woman to assume too much power. If we saw women as allies rather than rivals, would we spend more time developing platonic friendships and less pursuing romantic ones?
