Libby isn’t cut out to have children, even fictional ones.
“That’s awful,” Libby says. “Peewee” is a terrible-sounding word, the equivalent of a goose honk. She will never use it in her books.
Glenn gives a sour laugh. “Yeah, well, you know what they say. ‘If we only lived in sunshine, we’d get soaked by the sight of storm clouds.’” It’s Libby’s favorite Benjamin Falling quote, and it’s an extraordinary feeling to hear his words coming out of a real person’s mouth, being said to her.
