Knox would like me to inform you that he has done absolutely nothing wrong, he’s the innocent party, anything said or done against him is pure conjecture, and he’ll plead the fifth if necessary.

Betrayal cuts deep, and the wound she created hasn’t stopped burning since the day I left home for good.

I’ve always had a thing for the bad boy. How could I not? I was practically guaranteed to fall for the wrong guy—I’ve got a defective heart, after all. It’s only fair to assume it would lead me astray in love when it can’t even beat properly.

Hate that I’m actually intrigued by what he’s doing. I mean, I know him. Knew him. He’s good at his core. But did I somehow damage it? His core. His soul. Blacken it, twist it.

Pain makes me feel good.

Everything else makes me feel… comfortably numb.

“I’ll save you and condemn you,” he replies. His tongue flicks out, licking the sensitive spot just behind my earlobe. “I promise you that, sunshine. You’re going to know true darkness when I’m done with you. But you’ll be safe from all the demons in the world. Except me.”

Obsessed doesn’t cover it. I feel sick, inside and out.
