This happens a lot with babies in the mix—the ability to hold a conversation to the end is a little known and tragically uncelebrated art that you only appreciate when it has gone.

We knew we were on limited time, being able to bring the babies along to evening social events, letting them sleep in prams and bassinets—soon we would be limited to 7 P.M. bedtimes and quality adult time would be relegated to quarterly evenings in the pub which we would spend discussing how very tired we were.
