“I’m not giving you the silent treatment.” “Good, but I’d do this forever if I had to,” he says. “You’re my best friend, Summer, and I don’t take hurting my friends lightly.”
As stupid as Kian is about ninety percent of the time, hearing him call me his best friend feels like a warm hug. It’s rare that I get this close to anyone, but with him, it feels natural. I won’t tell him now, but he’s one of my best friends too.
Last night in itself was different. It was the best sex of my life, and I don’t really know how to move on after knowing that.
This is my favorite part. When we talk about anything and everything. Things I’d never get to know about her otherwise.
“I’ll do it for you? No guy just offers to oil hair. I’ve literally never heard that before.”
“Well, you said it’s your favorite thing. If it makes you happy I’d do it.”
“That’s a bit much for fuck buddies.” Her words are a grimy knife to the gut. But before she can say something else that digs a hole out of my chest, I lean in and kiss her.
“You know my body, Crawford. You don’t know my mind.”
her smile is so pretty I have a hard time focusing on anything else.
Contentment skips my bones because Summer never abandons her books, but right now her only focus is me.
She’s mesmerizing. Nothing I’ve imagined holds a candle to the reality of her.
threatening my sanity.
The thoughts are depressing, and the unrelenting torture from my uterus isn’t helping.
He looks so handsome in that suit, and it’s confusing the hell out of my ovaries.
He’s so content I wonder if he realizes it’s me he’s looking at. His large hand comes to my face, letting his thumb smooth across my cheek. The touch is so delicate that I hold my breath when he tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and leans in.
“I don’t want either of us losing focus or shifting priorities.” “Priorities change.” “What are you saying?” That I’m falling for you. “That I can focus on hockey and you.”
Finding the balance depends on figuring out the things I consider priorities. She has quickly become one of mine, and that isn’t changing anytime soon.
“We’ve been together every day for the past few weeks simply because we like to be around each other. Why can’t you just admit that?”
“You’re not going to tell me not to tell anyone else?” “Nope. There’s this super weird thing called trust that you’ve seemed to earn a lot of.”
Green eyes
“That is so cheesy. Is that what you offer all your fuck buddies?” That lights an uncomfortable fire in the pit of my stomach. I want that damn word out of her vocabulary.
to Crosby the other night.” When I laugh, she finally does too. The soft melody is a symphony to my ears
“I want to take you on a date.”
She shivers in disgust, stepping back. “Good luck, Captain.” I stop her before she can walk away. “Come here and kiss me.”
“Kiss me or I’ll kiss you, and it won’t be PG.”
Not only because it’s Yale, but because I’ll do anything for a date with Summer. That motivation alone tells me we’ve got it in the bag.
“Really want that date, huh?” Of course, I want it. I want her. Alone and all to myself.
“Try keeping it down this time. The walls are too thin to drown out your moans.”
I’d speed through every traffic light just to see you play, Crawford.
“He’s not wrong. I can’t let what I’ve worked so hard for be on the line for—for this.” “For me,” Aiden says. “What are you telling yourself? That this is just a fling and we’re just fucking? Because you know damn well that’s not all it is.” My words are stuck in my throat. That’s when Aiden grips my chin to look at him. “Tell me you know that.”
“I haven’t even looked at another girl since I’ve been with you.”
For some reason when I’m around her everything stops being logical and clear-cut. Instead, it blurs into a turbulent storm.
“You’re a mess.” “Thanks,”
“I’m kidding, man, I can see why you’re so bent out of shape. If it makes you feel any better, I’d consider monogamy for her too.”
“I mean she’s smokin—” “Fair warning,” I say. “I will punch you in the face if you finish that sentence.”
curiosity is a dangerous emotion.
But I know she’s got a good head on her shoulders, and she thinks hard before committing to something—or someone. Still, you gotta let people come to their own decisions, even if you think you know what’s best.”
