The Boniface Option: A Strategy For Christian Counteroffensive in a Post-Christian Nation

If the Christian has a passionate love for the truth of God’s Word, the goodness of God’s justice, and the beauty of holiness, he will necessarily have an intense hatred of the lies, injustice, and sin.

That is what must be understood by the Christian in the current age: the lifestyle that is idealized and glamorized and highly sought after by all—the cosmopolitan, independent, urbane, hip, affluent young person free from all responsibility—is one you must learn to hate. That is the end to which the murder of children, the abandonment of all sexual mores, and the destruction of the household is dedicated: so that you can live on Pleasure Island without ever turning into a donkey.

Nothing characterizes the dystopia of our modern, liberal consumerist society more than the profound loneliness, isolation, and alienation experienced by young men and women. It is extremely common for young men (and even young women) to have no friends they regularly see in person. This epidemic of loneliness has been a topic of discussion in academic circle’s since the publication of sociologist Robert Putnam’s Bowling Alone (2000), but it’s time that Christians learned this lesson. It is not possible to understand the spiritual miasma of our era without recognizing how extraordinarily lonely most people are.

Electing the right president is not going to fix things. Appointing the right Supreme Court justices is not going to fix things. Electing the right Congressmen and Senators is not going to fix things. The only thing that will transform the United States of America and pull it out of its death spiral is continual reformation of the church and revival of the Christian religion in our country and the West as a whole. And this starts with you, in your home, with your family, and extends upward from there.
