Yes, I found it,” I add, smirking. “You’re going to have to work harder to hide your guilty pleasures, now I’m living under the same roof.” “Who’s guilty?” Saint retorts, his dark eyes sparkling with mirth. “You know me, darling. I embrace all my pleasures wholeheartedly. And for the record, folklore is an underrated classic.”
“The bird is for Wren,” he says softly. “So you can carry her with you, always.”
“No,” Saint says fiercely, cupping my cheek. “You saved me, Tessa. I was killing time, amusing myself with meaningless distractions. I thought just opting out of my family bullshit was enough, but you’ve showed me there’s something more than that. Something real. This matters, what we’re doing,” he adds, eyes full of determination. “The truth matters. Doing the right thing, and making a stand, no matter what the cost.”
