“If you were my girlfriend,” Logan says then, his voice gravely and low, “there would be a lot of physical contact.”
“Why don’t we start with what you’re comfortable with?” Logan suggests. His voice has lost the teasing edge. Now it’s almost tender. Which might be more my undoing than the flirty teasing one. Because Logan cares about what makes me comfortable. Why is that so sexy? I mean, it should be like the lowest of all bars to set. But I’ve dated enough to know many men do NOT care about what makes their date comfortable.
Young Parker is squealing and jumping up and down on her bed. Heart emojis are exploding out of her head as though from a geyser. Because Logan Barnes asked to skate with me!!! The Now Parker manages a smile with zero squealing. My eyes do not contain little red hearts. They’re just plain brown eyes as I look at him calmly.
Whereas I’m a pretty strict moisturizer, mascara, and maybe eyeliner kind of girl. Years of wearing caked-on performance make-up for skating competitions will have that effect on a person.
My steps falter—stupid heels—but Logan is right there, steadying me. “Thanks,” I say, giving him a sheepish smile. “I’m better on skates than in heels.” “Me too.”
I am. Believe me, I am. But I need to know for sure that she wants me too. For real this time. “I don’t have the first clue what I’m doing,” I confess. Felix nods, then shoots me a quick grin. “Well, don’t let that stop you from doing something.” I don’t plan to.
Is there a prerequisite course guys must pass before they reach adulthood on how to lean sexily in a doorway? If so, Logan aced it. Top of class. Extra points for the way his biceps bunch while standing still.
