The title of the most famous economics book of the twentieth century is The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money. Published in 1936, it was written by John Maynard Keynes in order to explain why capitalism was failing to recover from the Great Depression, and the allusion to Einstein’s General Theory was intentional.
