“If you call me your ‘boy bestie’ again, I’ll have you committed.”
“Gerard had a clown once. I think it was his sixth birthday.” I smiled at the memory. “I’ve always wanted to see one again.” “You see one every day,” Lizzie tossed out with a smirk. “You live across the street from one.” I narrowed my eyes. “Ha-ha.”
“It’s always the mother who gets to keep the children, Mam!”
“Yeah, well now I’m choosing not to,” he shouted at the top of his lungs. “I’ll give you my weekends, Claire. I’ll give you my weekdays, too. Whatever you want. Cinemas. Restaurants. Date nights. It’s yours. Just promise me you won’t go out with him again.”
“If the moo fits, Gerard!”
“You, Claire,” I roared back at her, chest heaving. “I’m afraid of you!”
One moment we were glaring, and screaming, and shoving at each other and the next we were kissing.
Who was I trying to fool? I wasn’t going to make him wait. Not when I had all the self-control of a rolling pin.
“I swear, Shan, if I had a tail, it would be wagging like crazy.”
“I’m in,” I heard myself tell her, and never in my life had I spoken more truth than I had in those two words. “I’m in, Claire Biggs.” “Good.” She smiled. “Me too.” And then she kissed me right there in the middle of the field, with the whole school watching. Holy fuck did she kiss me.
“Time can’t heal when it doesn’t pass by.”
I felt my heart anchor itself to her, both attaching and wrapping itself up in intricate knots around every part of her.
I believe you, Gerard Gibson. I believe you. I believe you. I believe you.
Because you’re my Gibs.” “And you’re my Kav.”
it warmed my heart to know that wherever Gerard was right now, he had Johnny.
Because I loved her. Jesus, I loved her with every bit of me.
“Whoa,” I choked out, almost having a goddamn heart attack from how close said eyes were to my face.
