Page was both disappointed and confused that the publishers had not jumped on Google’s proposal to help get their content digitized. I tried to explain why IP was so important to media companies and that you could not just take it without consequences. And once Google did this, no one else could afford to digitize the material, so content makers and their work would eventually be held hostage by the technology and access to it.
