Yet, when the violence actually does harm, the companies respond with nothing more than apologies and persistent insistence that they will “do better.” But they will not do better, because they are incapable. In fact, the way the platform was built—the architecture, the DNA, the very bones of it—makes it impossible for them to “do better.”
