Names often bequeathed one with self-purpose or identity. His own name had been gifted upon emerging from the ceremonial lake, no longer a simple vampire, but a Guardian with a boosted capacity to hold mana within… and the special ability to manipulate shadow to a degree unheard of before.
He wanted someone who would push the sky down with him. Not for him.
“My darkness dances with yours.”
“One kiss is the least of what I’ll give you. You’re mine to protect, mine to hold, and mine to bring to insurmountable pleasure.”
His eyes were still closed, but his brows furrowed. His next words were almost inaudible. “Please let me keep you.”
“Don’t be afraid of the dark in here, darling. Learn to love yourself, for all your twisted darkness. I am.”
“Darkness reflects the truth you don’t want to acknowledge,”
“You know why. Until you make peace with yourself, and the dark twisted chaos of your past, you’ll never harness your gift.”
“May the water flow again next time we meet. We’re all eager to spend time with the one who obtained the unobtainable.”
and made sure she thought about how Shade made her feel—all was right in the world, her eye of the storm. The darkness stayed down.
Their lovemaking became a promise between savage hearts now beating in their own symphony.
No shame. No guilt. Just be her, in all her twisted darkness.
I’d still have agreed to the favor because I’ll burn the world to ash if it brought us together. If that makes me a villain, then I don’t give a fuck.”
