His mate had tried to kill him. Twice. He wasn’t sure if he was aroused or appalled. Maybe a little of both.
She slid arms around the thick scaled neck and choked as she locked eyes with Shade. “And let you have all the fun?” He fell in love in that moment.
“My darkness dances with yours.”
It wasn’t as if she was going to kill a child. No, she was going to take her to a better place. She was going to save humanity.
“Please let me keep you.”
“When someone holds as much love and chaos in their heart as you, it’s impossible for the Well to ignore them.”
“Like the fact she’s the one your heart has been searching for all these years and, perhaps, my son, you’re afraid she’ll see you stripped bare and still walk away.”
“Don’t be afraid of the dark in here, darling. Learn to love yourself, for all your twisted darkness. I am.”
Shade gaped at her, not even caring that a guard was falling to pieces behind him, writhing in agony as he decayed into crumbling ash. “Darling, you did it.” Shade stared into his love’s eyes with awe.
