God placed his elect upon a different footing from Adam or Israel. He placed his elect upon an unconditional footing. In the Everlasting Covenant Jesus Christ was appointed their Head, took their responsibilities upon himself, and wrought out a righteousness for them which is perfect, indefeasible, eternal.
