Christianity, however, contradicts this narrative. As we open the Bible, God’s word to all humanity, we see a meaning and a purpose much different. We see that we are not self-made but created in another’s image. We see that we are not infinite or self-existent, but creatures who depend on the world around us and on each other. Most importantly, we see that the question of how we should live, rather than being an unknowable mystery or a self-chosen adventure, is a truth we must receive.
