He would marry Persephone no matter the consequences, because in the end, a life without her was not a life at all.
This…it went beyond love. It was devotion. It was worship. It was the power that began and ended worlds, and if he had to, he would do so in her name. He knew those words were true because he felt them so deeply, it hurt.
“Nothing I do is in vain.”
“You once said words had no meaning. Let our actions speak next time.”
“Fate does not make sense. That is why it is so easy to blame.”
“I will give you the world,” he whispered, his mouth hovering over hers. “I don’t need the world,” she said. “I just need you.”
There was no man in the world who would claim such a thing; only women were taught their pain was never enough.
“I swear I’m fine,” she said. “Kiss me if you think I’m lying.” “I believe you, but I will kiss you anyway,”
“You are perfection. You are my lover. You are my queen.”
“You make me feel insane,” he said. “Like I’m struck with madness. I never thought I would want to feel that way again…but it’s different with you.”
“I will build temples in honor of our love,” he said, lips brushing along her jaw, down her neck, along her shoulder. “I will worship you until the end of the world. There is nothing I wouldn’t sacrifice for you. Do you understand that?”
