Trust and respect buy a loyalty that you can never buy with salary.
truth is, past hurts make most people more appreciative of someone who’s trying to do right.
Before you can become a great leader, you’ve got to become a great person.
Your people aren’t going to accept your leadership just because of your position.
I’m referring to the moment that you decide to make a total commitment to your goals.
You can’t ever be truly successful until you make a total commitment.
Now, I don’t believe that you have just one chance to do something great in your life, but I don’t believe that you get an unlimited number of chances, either.
When you see everything you do as one more step toward reaching the goals you’ve committed to, no task seems too big or too small.
Successful people do what it takes, and a little bit more.
The path to success is spelled W-O-R-K.
“To play ball was all I lived for. I used to like to play so much that I loved to take infield practice. Hitting — I could do all day. I couldn’t wait to go to the ballpark. I hated it when we got rained out.”
Follow-the-leader is more than just a game.
Be an example of total commitment, and you won’t have to go looking for committed people to bring into your business. They’ll come to you.
One trait that I’ve noticed in people who have made giant strides in the business world is that they have a special outlook on their work. They don’t look at it as work!
to these lucky people, work is not a burden to be endured. It’s fun.
Commit to something bigger than your business.
To be really successful, I believe you’ve got to see yourself as an active participant in some great event.
A crusading spirit provides the motivation and inspiration that inspires activity.
Crusade for a cause that’s worth the effort.
Only by being right, and being 100 percent right, can you become a real crusader.
But I really believe that in order to make a lot of money, you’ve got to do what’s right first.
That’s the only way to deal with criticism. Instead of letting it bring you down, you have to take it as a challenge and get stronger from it, build on it.
Ignore criticism and attacks when you can; when you can’t ignore it, build on it and use it to strengthen your commitment.
“What’s popular isn’t always right, and what’s right isn’t always popular!”
Build your people’s success by helping them to become crusaders.
Find something you love and believe in, and become a crusader. Then, help your people to develop their crusading spirit. Once you do, you’ve practically assured your own success, and the success of your people.
You can look at life as a pain in the neck, or you can look at it as a beautiful, wonderful experience. It can be positive and exciting, or it can be a negative, disappointing experience. And you are the one who decides which way it is going to be. Your attitude will determine which road you take.
I made up my mind a few years ago that I was going to be as happy as possible, no matter what happened. I decided that I was tired of being frustrated and disappointed all the time. I decided that my life was going to be a great experience.
I am not saying it’s easy to turn your attitude around. Many times it’s tough, especially when you see so many negative things happening in the world around you. It’s something that’s totally self-made. A positive, winning attitude is not for sale. You can’t buy it. You can’t go to college and get it. It will only come when you make a ...

Most people can stay motivated for two or three months. A few people can stay motivated for two or three years. But a winner can stay motivated for 30 years — or as long as it takes to win.”
I have a goal in my life. I’d like to have one 24-hour day — just one —when I didn’t have one negative thought.
I believe if you never had a negative thought, you would be the greatest person you could ever possibly be.
If you’ve got a winning attitude, you can slip up every day, in almost every way, and still win.
I have never used questionnaires in our business, because all the complaints and suggestions I receive come from the negative people and the non-producers.
everyone could benefit by his example of the refusal to accept the possibility of failure.
Whether or not they succeed will depend on their expectations of themselves and on your expectations of them.
Life gives people whatever they will accept.
A leader won’t accept expectations of failure.
Let them know that you know they can win, and you won’t accept anything less than their best.
People will rise to the standards you set for them.
Set it first with your own example, then set that same standard of excellence for your people, both individually and as a group.
Don’t ever feel like your people’s goals and standards of excellence are none of your business.
Constant encouragement leads to increased expectations.
You can never encourage your people too much.
Management Mistake Many managers place their career above everything else. Leadership Solution Successful leaders know the importance of living a balanced life.
The race to succeed, and to help other people become successful isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon.
Only by making a conscious decision about what’s most important to you, and structuring your life to include those things, can you begin to reduce your anxiety and achieve a balance in your life.
Push-Up Principle Setting priorities helps to establish balance and perspective.
In my life, the priorities are God first, family second, and business third.
