Note that “aiming” does not necessarily require a perfect, traditional sight alignment, but past 7 yards or so, that’s what you want. At close range, a very coarse aim of simply seeing the gun superimposed over the spot you want to hit may be good enough. By 7 yards, especially if you want a heart or brain shot, the sights themselves need to be in some sort of alignment.
