Somehow we know there are secrets in the universe waiting to be unlocked. The earth dangles in space somehow perfectly positioned to produce the only environment that would allow us to live. Any closer to the sun and we fry; any farther and we freeze. Make sense of that. Why should the liquid that covers almost all of the earth carry the exact composition necessary to sustain life?
