When he smiled, it almost seemed like a golden halo shone on him. It was so blinding I feared I'd trip once again by how captured I was.
That night when I drifted off to sleep, bright blue eyes and soft blond curls haunted me in my dreams. And when I woke, I'd convinced myself that I must have dreamt up the man entirely.
Bruce looked me up and down, and I tried not to puff up under his gaze. It was entirely too inappropriate to try to flirt with him with his mom in the room.
What I wasn't expecting was to find myself even more enthralled and wanting more of what I couldn't have.
My gut was telling me for once to listen to my heart and to stop running away when feelings got complicated.
“Don't think about the what-ifs that may or may not happen. Maybe you're right and we'd be disastrous together, but I know there's something between us that's worth exploring, and I know you feel it too. I'm not saying we need to jump into a relationship. We can go with the flow and see what works for us.”
I paused to give him a moment to process. His gaze locked on mine, and the storm inside his eyes had calmed to a tranquil and clear silver.
“You're pure evil, you know that?” I said with a shake of my head, and he smiled innocently at me again. “What do you mean? I'm an angel,”
Colorful lights flashed inside behind my eyelids, more beautiful than any lights I'd seen before. Kissing Bruce was magic. It was explosions. It was everything.
