Philip Randolph offered the following vote of confidence: “I’m interested in Bayard having some sort of organizational base. But the labor movement is a little too prosaic for Bayard. He moves too expeditiously, and these people want to sit around in committee and talk about it for a day. We have to invent something for Bayard.”
