I unlock my door and once it closes behind us, I fling my overnight bag and bury my face in Trenton’s chest. He drops the cooler and the flowers, and then his arms come down around me. But it isn’t enough. I squeeze him tighter, needing him to feel everything I’ve been holding inside of me these last few days.
“You are my team, Cassidy.” He thumbs away my fallen tears. “I love you so much. Please say you can forgive me.” I push up onto my toes and brush my lips against his. “I forgive you.”
“I forgive you. I love you. I need you,” I whisper like a chant against his lips. “It’s been hell without you, Cass.” He sucks my bottom lip into his mouth and bites down. “I’ve missed you so much.”
