The Oath of Peace also seems to block expressing proper punishment of Covenant as well as the defense of the Land. Perhaps an Oath of Self Defense and Justice would have been a better option in the face of Kevin's actions and Lord Foul's threat. When faced with an existential threat, tying one hand behind your back is simply not a smart option.
