Many who reject the LE have claimed it to be a later compilation drawn from the other canonical Gospels. Certain elements of the LE do parallel material appearing in Matthew, Luke, and even John.115However, a claim of derivative compilation cannot stand once the unparalleled “additional” material found within the LE is considered.
