Practice makes perfect. “Have you read any good books lately?” is an excellent question to ask someone you just met. The answer will reveal a great deal about your new acquaintance. If she hesitates for a long time, she probably doesn’t read very much (in which case you should probably change the subject), or she might have some great book recommendations for you. What a fun way to reveal one’s hand.
