However, it should be emphasized that the ingestion of large amounts of fruits, especially for those fruits low in vitamin C, is not recommended. Dried fruits, for example, contain high concentrations of fructose and have lost their vitamin C content. Fruit juices and punches are also problematic, for the rapid intake of juice could lead to significant elevations in the concentration of fructose in the liver, which is key for activating the metabolic switch.
