The conceptual engineering we are doing at this point is supposed to tease out or make explicit real elements in our thinking. We want to highlight and try to encapsulate things like this: we do make a distinction between changing the past (cannot do) and acting differently than we do (sometimes can do); we do have discriminating practices of blame; we do make a distinction between being ill and being bad; we do allow some excuses and disallow others.
