Players don’t necessarily have to go for goal directly from a penalty. Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam scored one of the most famous penalties of all time in 1982. Johan Cruyff, the taker, surprised everyone by rolling the ball to the left of the spot. As the shocked keeper ran out to claim it, Cruyff’s team mate Jesper Olsen rushed into the box and passed the ball back to Cruyff in the middle, who rolled the ball into the empty net.
