At least once every two weeks, members and friends come together and recite the Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings. They begin with the three refuges and the two promises for children. These two promises envelop all the mindfulness trainings of the adults. The first promise is: “I vow to develop my compassion in order to love and protect the life of people, animals, plants, and minerals.” The second promise is: “I vow to develop understanding in order to be able to love and to live in harmony with people, animals, plants, and minerals.”
