A problem emerges with the concept that in order to control our own lives we must exert control over the lives of others. We are then engaged in a zero-sum game in which we get what we want only at the expense of someone else. We live in a competitive society. We are forever dividing the world up into winners and losers: Republicans versus Democrats, good versus evil, our team versus their team.
