This attitude is in stark contrast to Moses’ self-confidence 40 years earlier. It took a few decades in the wilderness for Moses to come to the end of himself. As long as you are sufficient in yourself, trusting in yourself, then you are going to have a hard time trusting God. You won’t find the beginning of God until you get to the end of yourself. Moses was a different person with a different outlook. He was no longer second in command over all of Egypt—he was working for his father-in-law, herding sheep on the back side of the desert.
