For Kurt and me, our source of healing was the incredibly happy life we built for ourselves and our family.

As for the nature of God, I can only conclude that the being who is powerful enough to have created humanity, must—like us humans—also weep at its own inability to intervene and stop human suffering.

I do not know that it is a God-given trait, but one lesson I learned from my experience is that each of us has an enormous reservoir of strength to draw upon when needed.
