The dissatisfaction, the idolatrous desire for “more,” is in the mutated DNA of our fallenness. And it will be there until our hearts are full with Jesus. As Augustine says, “Restless is our heart until it comes to rest in thee.”2 God set it up this way, making sure that the accumulation of satisfactions other than Him will never satisfy.
According to Stephen Altrogge: We won’t be fully satisfied when we get what we want. Because God loves us and wants us to find our satisfaction in him, he won’t allow us to be satisfied. To believe that we’ll finally be happy when we get what we want is a lie.
Christian, if you have been raised with Christ, is there a seriousness in you about the things of God? Are you legitimately pursuing Him, growing into the fullness of Him? If your mind is set on Him, how does that work itself out in your life?
