The real challenge is this: whether you are a believer or an unbeliever, atheist or theist, evil is not just around us—it is in us. That is why it is safe to say the existence of evil is not evidence of God’s absence in the universe but evidence of His absence from our lives. Rejecting God won’t necessarily make you some horrible criminal, just like saying you believe in God won’t automatically make you a saint.
