His eyes were dark, full of mischief.
I tilted my head up at him.
The mischief in his eyes dimmed and I patted him on the cheek.
She gave me a look as flat as her tone.
A foggy mist covered the greens, dissipating slowly as the sun broke over the horizon and began its day-long journey to the other side.
I sat up straight, confident.
Ransom stepped forward, his jaw tight.
Tiny lines broke out around his eyes as he smiled.
She stopped scrubbing and looked me right in the face for the first time since I walked in.
He walked off without another word.
Bebe paled, leaving only two splotchy spots of orange blusher.
Matty wouldn’t even look at me.
I nodded slowly in the moonlight.
The rising sun painted the sky pink and seagulls flew low over the ocean searching for their version of scrambled eggs and ham.
His eyes were hard, but his lips were all smirky and amused.
He flicked a glance at Ransom, who simply smiled.
I stiffened my back.
She came closer with a mad scowl on her face.
Yellow sunlight streamed through the windows, warming the empty rooms.
Sid scrunched below the window
He continued to smile while I racked my brain for a question.
Milo must have read the skepticism on my face.
Her shoulders shook slightly and she rested her hands on her knees.
He stopped and stared at me.
My fingers still trembled and I took a deep breath.
I choked out a laugh.
Grief, anger, and uneasiness radiated from his very pores, but he didn’t say a word.
Matty stiffened at the sound of Ransom’s name and turned back to the tires.
Ransom’s scowl relaxed to a tightlipped frown.
He narrowed his eyes at me and opened his mouth to speak just as another door slammed.
The day was sunny and bright with high wispy clouds sailing across the sky, but a storm was rolling in for tomorrow.
Ransom’s gaze flicked to Matty and then to me.
Reena’s glare never left me.
Fresh tears ran down her face.
Her breath sucked in so hard, I thought she was choking.
The sky had darkened from gloomy to murky and the rain now fell in waves.
