When People Are Big and God Is Small: Overcoming Peer Pressure, Codependency, and the Fear of Man

I didn’t have to measure up to the standards of others’ opinions because God’s opinion of me was rooted in the finished work of Jesus.

Do other people often make you angry or depressed? Are they making you crazy? If so, they are probably the controlling center of your life.

Aggressively asserting that you don’t need anyone is just as much an evidence of the fear of man as the more timid examples we have seen.

The most radical treatment for the fear of man is the fear of the Lord. God must be bigger to you than people are.

Instead of looking for ways to manipulate others, we will ask God what our duty is toward them.
