Our culture tends to disproportionately honor the new—new books, music, movies, hairstyles, etc. The danger in that is we’ll stop paying attention to the older books, children then grow up not knowing them, those books don’t get worn out and need replacing with new copies, and eventually the publisher lets the books go out of print. Keep the great old books alive by including them in your readings.)
