We either pretend we don’t need him or we acknowledge we do.
The good news is that Jesus came to reveal a God who defines us not by our actions but by his love.
He came down to their level because they could never rise to his. He wasn’t out to prove how good he was or how bad they were. He just wanted to offer them hope.
You don’t have to be good to be Jesus’s friend. You just have to be honest.
The enemy is not bad people—it’s badness itself.
If he were on earth today, everyone would follow him on Twitter and read his blog because he was real.
That means that grace and truth aren’t enemies. They are on the same side.
“But I say, if you even look at a woman lustfully, it’s as if you’ve already slept with her.”
And because he knows he’s righteous, he attempts great things, crazy things, and he never gives up.
Life makes more sense when we don’t make it about ourselves.
Nehemiah 8:10, “Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”
it’s easier to be holier because I am happy. Because of the good news, because of Jesus, I can be both holy and happy—what a concept!
