Greentown: Murder and Mystery in Greenwich, America's Wealthiest Community

GREENWICH’S EARLIEST history was darkened by killings. These began with the murder of the town’s first white settler, three hundred and thirty-two years before the murder of Martha Moxley.

This is bonkers. The 1640s were a crazy time in CT history.

The Dutch remained bent on the slaughter of the Indians. One day in February of 1644, the English captain John Underhill and Ensign Henry Van Dyck, with one hundred thirty Dutch and English soldiers in three boats, put out from New Amsterdam and sailed up the Sound.

Always weird to see a character from my undergrad history project (Underhill) re-emerge in a murderous way.
