One of the earliest and most important texts of the Sarvastivadins was Katyayaniputra’s Abhidharma Jnana-prasthana (The Source of Knowledge through the Study of Dharmas), which was compiled around 200 B.C. and which set forth a matrix of dharmas as the basis of all that we know or can know. It would appear that it was in reaction to this emphasis on jnana that the compilation of prajna texts occurred, focusing on wisdom as opposed to knowledge.
