Through the privilege of specific prayer, the believer applies the power of the Spirit of God through generations, across national boundaries, into the offices of presidents, and into the hearts of thousands. For God to exercise his power in these ways, does he need us? No. But he chooses to work through the prayers of his people to demonstrate his care for us, our value to him, and the significance of our lives in his kingdom.
